Health History
When you arrive for your first appointment at Clear Choice Chiropractic you will be assisted in filling out a health history questionaire with one of our chiropractic assistants. The purpose for taking your health history is to accumulate as much information about you and your condition as possible before you consult with the doctor. This information is vital to help us better serve you.
Consultation
The purpose of the initial consultation is to create an environment for communication between you and your doctor. The doctor will take this time to get to know you, familiarize himself with your condition and explain thoroughly what he proposes to do today. It is also when we will go over our fees, so that there are no surprises down the road.
Chiropractic Examination
During the examination, the doctor will assess the condition of your spine and nervous system, looking specifically for vertebral subluxation. This will include a thorough neurological and orthopedic assessment utilizing reflex, muscle and skin sensation testing and we may even use a very sophisticated, computerized surface electromyography (sEMG). This technology allows us to quantify the level of electrical activity in the soft tissues surrounding your spine, know if it is normal or not and determine which areas of your spine are interfering with the function of your nervous system.
In addition, the doctor will perform a “hands on” palpatory assessment of the spine and its motion and observe any postural abnormalities. As a result, the doctor will be able to specifically identify the level of subluxation.
X-ray
Clear Choice Chiropractic is equipped with a state-of-the-art x-ray facility. We use a high speed digital system in order to minimize your x-ray exposure. While it is true that some chiropractors do not utilize x-ray, it is our opinion that this practice is not always in your best interest. We do not X-ray everyone; however X-rays can give us essential information about your condition and the health of your spine as well as identify those patients for whom chiropractic care is not indicated. Of course, we never x-ray pregnant women and only x-ray children when absolutely necessary. X-ray examination is vital to achieving optimal chiropractic care for your health condition.
First Chiropractic Adjustment
The adjustment is the method by which we remove interference to the nervous system by restoring normal motion and alignment to the spine. Most Adjustments are done utilizing a manual (by hand) chiropractic technique, we also have mechanical (instrument) means of adjusting within our office. The doctor will pick a method of adjusting which will be right for your condition, Once an adjustment is performed, healing begins immediately, thus you’re NOW on the road to recovery.
Report of Findings
The following visit, the doctor will report to you what he/she has found (or did not find) only after thoroughly reviewing your history, examination and x-ray results. The doctor will then outline the different care options available and recommend a treatment schedule that he feels will get you back to feeling great in the most efficient amount of time. If for some reason the doctor feels he/she will not be able to help you, you will be referred to someone who will.
